A family blog by some friends of mine. I used to babysit the kids so I may be prejudiced buy I think that this is a hoot and of course I love the stuff about the kids.
A friend sent this to me. I think there are some wonderful photos and am looking forward to going through it more thoroughly. A side note, the photographer is a very nice guy who was a competitive racewalker and also was very involved with Team in Training as a coach for them in the Philadelphia area.
Great for inspiration if you make wire jewelry. Lynne's work is as incredible as she is as a person. If you have the opportunity study with her, go to an opening, whatever, I would recommend it. This lady has really lived.
Another great resource for racewalking. The president of the foundation, Elaine Ward, is the grand dame of racewalking in the United States. Again, I put this under running since this sport has more in common with running than regular walking.
This age-grading calculator is the most comprehensive one that I have found. If you are a Master's competitor this helps you compare your times to younger athletes. Also some competitions are based on age-graded times as opposed to straight timing.
Okay most of you probably won't be interested, but... I really enjoy officiating for track and field. I always have the best seats in the house at a meet and you meet many wonderful people. This site gives you all the information you need to become involved in the US.
If you want information on racewalking or marathon training check out Dave McGovern's site. It has tons of accurate information and Dave is very amusing so it goes down easy. You have to read his article on the dog days of summer that was originally for Walking Magazine (I think) Anyway he is a great guy if you are interesting in learning to racewalk you should definitely consider attending or hosting one of his weekend workshops.I used running as the topic because this type of walking has more in common with running than regular walking.
I am not a christian myself but I enjoy these guys ability to laugh at themselves. The humor is funny without being nasty. I found it looking for a lightbulb joke.
